I work on production planning and shop-floor digitalization for make-to-order manufacturers: digital shop-floor reports, finite-capacity planning, rescheduling on rush orders and breakdowns, and workforce management (attendance, shifts, absences). Two orders blocked, two deliveries at risk, one rush job with no slot. In most plants this gets solved by shouting, moving magnets and crossing fingers.

The finite-capacity engine reorders the load: one job jumps to another machine, another waits for the center to come back, the rush order fits, and you see which delivery is affected before approving. The breakdown doesn't vanish: the plan works around it. And if a delivery takes a hit, it gets said — "+4 h, customer informed". Nobody knows for sure. It gets accepted just in case, and in week 2 it turns out it didn't fit; or it gets declined out of fear, and it was free margin.
